In both cases Barak empties the image of its original spectacular coloration, painting it in monochromatic black hues, while transforming the color of the background/sky from black to white. While the series of photographs freezes the isolated moment, the video installation underscores the dimensions of movement and sound occurring in reverse in an infinite space and endless time. These interventions of freezing and silencing, reverse motion, color negation, and negative-positive substitution generate a new, abstracted image. The seven photographs appear like fine blotted charcoal drawings that imitate various forms, and their symbolic number alludes, inter alia, to the seven planets. The video is based on a round format which reinforces the cosmic ambience. Its form calls to mind a full moon or alternatively, a black hole.
Barak juxtaposes infinite time with neutralized time, an imploding introversive motion with silent static movement. The space merges with the eternal, measured time and with the changing explosive energy.
