In a desert setting, a strange amorphous “creature” bursts out of a truck. It gradually takes shape, turning out to be a helium balloon that carries observation equipment up into the air. For the viewer, the process as a whole carries connotations of an animal being born and slowly ascending to the blue sky, where it hovers innocently.
All of a sudden the pastoral facade is shattered; the balloon changes direction and falls, crashing to the ground as if it were a bomb or a dive bomber. The pastoral scene dissolves entirely to be replaced by an image of destruction and anxiety.
