In Mréjen’s Dieu, filmed in Israel, eight people who were born into ultra-Orthodox Jewish families recount memories associated with their departure from religion: the moment in which the decision was taken, the first violation of a prohibition, the performance of an act never allowed before, such as turning on the light during Sabbath, eating non-Kosher food, going to the cinema, etc. For most of the photographed subjects, that simple moment marked the beginning of the rift with their families and total rejection by their community. The video work is a collection of memories, stories and anecdotes, moments and situations that have left their marks on them.
