Tsai Charwei, working between Taipei and Paris, combines calligraphic manuscripts of classical Buddhist scripture in her videos and installations, thus producing a modern reading of Eastern culture and its potential to address the spontaneity and universality of existence. In this exhibition, Tsai’s Circle depicts circles of ink slowly disappearing into water, visually echoing Shamir’s work and its focus on nature. Both artists, Tsai and Wu, works use the natural yet abstract effects of diluted ink as their aesthetic language.
