From the series: The Daily Postcard
colored markers on A4 paper
November-December 2023
Zeev Engelmayer began posting the series of Daily Postcard drawings on his Facebook page, against the backgdrop of the deal to return the abductees held captive by Hamas from the 7th of October 2023.
In the days immediately following the terrible Shabbat, he responded with black-and-white paintings, saturated with agony and horror, to the reports of the atrocities, as reflected the in the news.
Just weeks later, in November and December, as the deal progressed, Engelmayer began uploading the Daily Postcard to the web: series of drawings deeply sympathizing with the pain of the families and fear for the fate of the abductees, alongside bursts of joy with each and every one of them who returned to Israel.
On Hanukkah, a selection from this series of paintings was hung on the facades of the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, in an attempt to spread a message of solace, hope, and perhaps shed some light on these days of excruciating pain and upheaval.
The creator Zeev Engelmayer presented in the series of exhibitions at the museum, Tell Me More, curated by Yuval Saar.
