Michal Shamir’s philosophic short video Efer creates a majestic and poetic atmosphere based on minimalist forms. It was presented by the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art in 2008 in Shamir’s solo exhibition as a single video work amidst photographs of dried flowers and dusty insect remnants. Themes of age, longing and death are tangibly present in this current exhibition as well. The video work is presented here for the second time; an invisible fire consumes the papers until they are nothing but ash and insect fragments, and the slow process of dwindling and death serves as an echo of our existence on this earth.
