Out of Place, 2013, installation made of head scarves
Majd Amori is fascinated by the materiality and the meaning of the head scarves that are an integral part of her life. In creating this installation, the artist has performed two acts: research and questioning. On the one hand, she explores and dissects the fabrics she is so familiar with. She is fascinated by the scarves’ loose strings and the different colors they reveal once unraveled, and tries to figure out how they slacken, unravel and crumble. On the other hand, she has exposed the one thing that covered her, to enable inner reflection and defiance.
