Goldstein manipulates the speed and direction of the sound. The result calls to mind the internal noises of a living body, usually audible only through a stethoscope. Into these sounds he incorporates the pants of a dog and noises which are typical to human respiratory disorders. The processed texts, which form the foundation of the overall sound, derive from various sources, among them the poem “Evidently Chickentown” by punk author John Cooper Clarke. The sources for the visual images are X-rays of dogs and humans, fused together to spawn hybrid creatures that undergo a process of either conception or decay. The three chapters of this work are set apart by still images of cityscapes or rural landscapes.
