YOKO XVIII, 2006, acrylic composite, acrylic paint

This sculpture, Yoko, is a figurative representation of the artist’s wife. Brown pursues the sculptural ideal of a perfect form, while reducing his exact measurements of Yoko’s skeletal structure to half scale in order to enhance our appreciation of its beauty. Like a contemporary Eve, Yoko is represented in the five sculptures in this series in a number of different ways – clothed, naked, in high heels, and completely draped in a cloth – offering us numerous possibilities for a cool, “scientific” examination of her form.
