In these post-modern times, in an Israeli reality that is infused with numerous cultural influences, the exhibition Jewish Kitchen: A Visual Text sets out to explore the current from a historical perspective associated with the Hebrew language. Fainaru links Hebrew, as a source of inspiration and a source of quandaries and dilemmas, with visual art, binding the two to Jerusalem. The exhibition is an attempt to combine art and the visual to the Hebrew text. Fainaru tries to generate a unique Israeli identity that carries a tension as well as a dialogue with the book – the object most quintessentially identified with both the wandering and the settled Jew, with the Homeland and the Diaspora alike.
