The artist conducts a photographed journey through a subterranean canal dating from the Herod period, dug beneath the local council Jisr a-Zarqa. Amir, accompanied by a group of youths from the neighborhood located above the canal, does in fact walk at the head of the procession, yet it is unclear whether he leads it or is being led by it. The youths know each turn, describing the features of the unseen terrain above them in great detail. Different spots in the tunnel get their references from the houses and families residing in the village above. The work charts the dynamics formed between the participants in the journey, exposing relationships and differences between a guide and the group dictating his path, between an adult and youths, between a Jew and Muslims and between life underneath the surface and above it, while mixing ancient with contemporary times.
