Body gestures are a highly expressive form of communication, which involves a wide range of both conspicuous and subtle movements. This non-verbal language can be used either to supplement or to replace the use of words, and may serve to enhance or transform their message. Body gestures are capable of underscoring and reinforcing a verbal message; at the same time, they may endow it with another, contradictory and surprising interpretation. The works featured in this exhibition all examine, in a range of different ways, the rules, significance and impact of this body language.
