Tal Frank’s helmets’ kisses correspond with significant moments in the history of sculpture. The readymade taken from everyday life, in this case helmets, gains new meaning when it is mounted on the museum’s wall in a sculptural composition. However, the familiar object, the helmet, is in fact a replica of the original. These are only seemingly helmets, and therefore lack the heroism of the original. The circular and precise installation imbues the helmets with a delicate, uncharacteristic air, like beads in a necklace.
