Meshullam Fish Family, photographs, 2002
In The Meshullam Fish Family, an early work by Assi Meshullam from 2002, the artist reworks and transforms his self-portrait in multiple versions, to spawn an entire school of little fish. They all bear his resemblance while maintaining their own individual personal characteristics. With a great deal of humor, Meshullam sends his little offspring into unknown waters on a mission to “take over the world” and to represent him, their forefather, wherever the currents might lead them.
