In Vladimir Logutov’s Episode we witness an encounter with three figures appearing like dark silhouettes against the backdrop of a city covered in snow. The viewer becomes a witness to a scene which soon transforms from playful to violent, as two of the figures whip, kick, and beat the third. The scene’s background, as well as the figures’ identity, is unknown, and the viewer remains a passive witness to random violence devoid of any cause or reason. The passersby walk on without intervening, responding, or even acknowledging the situation. Life goes on as usual.
