The artist’s homecoming is introduced to the Museum via live Internet broadcast from the apartment. In this work, Ashery confronts the memory of the passing time as well as expectations that were realized, failed, or that were forgotten.
Combining video, text, collage, objects and direct communication with the viewers, this piece is a part of Ashery’s current body of work: Welcome Home. Ashery’s practice explores the interstice between art and life; it is located at the intersection of interpersonal politics and social relations, out of a profound affinity to the site in which it takes place.

In addition to activating and communicating with the viewers, Ashery presents a video, Why do You Think I Left? (20 min.) where she questions members of her family about why they think she left the country.

Ashery will internet-broadcast and speak with visitors on Saturdays, between 10a.m.-12 noon.
