Each painting features a massively enlarged yarmulke that takes up the entire canvas. The painting is spectacular. In terms of its reference to reality, it represents an act of displacement and decontextualization – a type of hyperrealism and pop art. The tiny skullcap becomes monumental, gigantic. Considering the entire series in sequence, this act of glorification may be read as a subversive, critical act.
