Orit Adar Bechar | Blind Bound Bowed Naked, installation, 2003

Curator: Dalia Levin
April 1, 2003 - June 21, 2003

The title of Orit Adar Bechar’s exhibition, Blind, Bound, Bowed, Naked, is derived from the Jewish morning prayers. These prayers consist of a set of actions where the believer thanks God for all that exists, for giving sight to the blind, releasing the bound, straightening the bent, and clothing the naked. Adar Bechar chooses to eliminate the divine function, leaving man in his wretchedness: naked, bound, blind and bent like the figures in Samuel Beckett’s plays.
