Elsewhere Gallery is a video conference between the museum space and a temporary external gallery built for the purpose of displaying it in the exhibition. Adi Dahan was authorized by the exhibition curators to build a temporary gallery and invite various artists to display their works in it, subject to predefined conditions and boundaries. Dahan’s gallery will present the artists’ works as well as cultural endeavors and occupations that are usually not presented as part of artworks. The displays are designed with a two-dimensional exhibition in mind, remotely viewable on a screen.

The video conference will enable an open discussion between the presenting artists and exhibition visitors, allowing the latter to intervene in various artistic choices, be exposed and express their views about what goes on in the gallery. This approach is reminiscent of social media sharing thoughts and opinions in real time. Here too the contents are dynamic and change according to reactions by viewers taking part in the work. Thus, Dahan’s work challenges the curator-artist-viewer triad and delegates the responsibility for the contents displayed to the artist.
This artwork is evocative of the Zeitgeist. It presents technology-dependent socially shared art, virtually transmitted as it unfolds in real time. In the overall context of the exhibition, it expands the stage given to young graduating artists in the museum through Dahan’s platform.
The gallery exhibition and video conferencing with museum visitors will take place every Saturday. A record of past events will be screened on the other days of the week. This work is accompanied by a website broadcasting parts of the exhibitions, offering information about the participating artists and acting as the gallery’s digital catalog: www.elsewheregallery.com
